Why Unlimited Time Sessions Are Gold: A Lesson from the Highway

by | Behind the Scenes, Client Stories

Let’s get candid for a second: when was the last time you truly relished being in front of a camera? For many, the idea of an extended photo session feels like a trip to the dentist – necessary, but not exactly the highlight of your day. I totally get it. It’s one of the reasons clients often underestimate the value of my offer for unlimited time sessions. But let me share a little secret with you: those unlimited hours aren’t just about the camera. It’s about you, your comfort, and ensuring we capture you at your very best, no matter what life throws your way. Case in point: this past Saturday.

It was a typical sunny weekend, and I was gearing up for a session with a lovely client. But just as the universe has its plans, so does the wild maze of life known as the freeway. On this fateful day, the 60 highway became the stage for a sudden accident. An unexpected jam caused by ongoing roadwork resulted in a landscaper with a trailer, failing to halt in time. While the cars bore the brunt of the crash, thankfully, all involved were safe.

Yet, this unexpected event led to my client being significantly delayed. Now, imagine if this session had a strict time limit. The added stress of “wasted time” would only pile onto the initial anxiety of witnessing such an incident. Instead, thanks to the freedom of unlimited time, when he finally arrived at the studio, there wasn’t a clock ticking in the background. We sat down, had a good chat, sipped some calming coffee, and only when I sensed he was genuinely relaxed and in the right headspace, did we begin our shoot.

This story isn’t unique. Life is unpredictable. Whether it’s traffic, a last-minute work call, or simply needing some extra time to settle into the groove, unlimited time sessions are designed to accommodate life’s curveballs. It provides a buffer, ensuring that unforeseen circumstances don’t compromise the quality of your photos.

Moreover, it’s a testament to the commitment I have for my clients. Your comfort and mental well-being are paramount to me. Photography is as much about capturing aesthetics as it is about encapsulating emotions. A hurried mind rarely translates well through the lens.

So the next time you’re weighing the pros and cons of session lengths, remember this highway tale. Think of the peace of mind, the assurance of flexibility, and the promise of a session that prioritizes you over the ticking clock. In the grand tapestry of life, where so much is beyond our control, isn’t it nice to know there’s a space where time is truly on your side?
